 Principal's Welcome Message

Greetings Lithonia Middle School Families,

As Principal of Lithonia Middle School, I am elated to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve at their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience

2. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills

3. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life

4. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject

We hope that you will consider our parent volunteer program as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s programs and its operations. We seek volunteers to help in coordinating school-wide events, participating in parent workshops, welcoming students in the mornings, coordinating student and staff recognition events, and assisting with outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers.

As your Principal, I aim to be a part of a school community where family and community members are visible and actively engaged. Please know that we highly value home/school communication here at Lithonia Middle School.  It is vital and plays an integral role in each student’s success.  We encourage you to contact us if/when the need arises, and to stay in the know about your child’s studies, assignments, assessments, and school activities, as well as other school and district events.

Remember, it does take a village to raise a child, and I am honored and privileged to lead a dynamic school where parents, teachers and staff cultivate an environment where students achieve and believe in themselves.  As mentioned previously, your input, feedback, and support will be critical to my leadership, the teaching and learning environment and above all to the success of your child in our school. Please know that I welcome your participation, support, and efforts as they are greatly valued and appreciated.

Sincerely,

Tracy Harris

Principal
